Getting to PortFest!

 Take the train and shuttle to the Port of Redwood City for the free public PortFest festival. View FREE PortFest Shuttle schedule here. The 2016 Shuttle schedule is NOW posted!  Look for the sandwich sign that says "PortFest Shuttle Stop".  It will be stationed next to the taxi pick-up area on the sidewalk of Winslow St. (Southbound train travelers will need to cross over the tracks at the designated crossing to get to the shuttle stop.)

 

 

If you drive to PortFest, take Seaport Blvd. east over highway 101. Stay in the left lane!  Turn left at Seaport Court (3rd light).  Parking is free.

Salsa Festival

Redwood City is going to be sizzling during its 9th annual Salsa Festival, on Saturday, September 24th, 2016. Multiple stages featuring a variety of music, including Salsa, Latin Jazz and Reggae, will fire up Redwood City with music and dancing all day long. Amateur and professional Salsa Chefs will compete for fun, prizes and Salsa Glory, at the mouth-watering and exciting Salsa Tasting & Competition, where the public takes part in the judging. Public tasting is from 12-5pm, but come early to be sure to sample the most popular! Along with tasty salsa, local restaurants will also offer their delicious fares throughout the day. The festival features public Tequila Tasting, FREE hands-on art projects, a Children's Play Area complete with bounce houses, and much more. Redwood City's Salsa Festival guarantees a fun-filled day of savory salsa, great activities, music, entertainment, dancing, food, beverages, and a wonderful time for the entire family from noon until 8 pm.

Courthouse Square will be transformed into a festive, beautiful, and fun setting in celebration of this important patriotic holiday in the Mexican culture.

This is a FREE community celebration! Kids and families will love the Hands on the Arts crafts area, everyone will enjoy trying authentic Mexican food from local restaurants, and there will be an authentic Flag Ceremony conducted by Consul General de Mexico.

The Square will be filled with colorful and glamorous Ballet Folklorico dancing, live Mariachi music, and a very special live performance by a great musical act.

Jewelry on the Square

ART on the Square features the best in fine arts and crafts each month between June and August at Courthouse Square in downtown Redwood City. Complementing Music on the Square and the PAL Blues ART Festival, ART on the Square showcases original painting, photography, jewelry, glass, ceramics, and more, with prices for every budget. At each Friday evening ART on the Square there is a drawing for four $25 gift certificates that winners can spend on the artist’s work of their choice during the show.

Music on the Square - Neon Velvet

Movies on the Square - Top Gun (PG)

Devil-may-care navy pilot Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is sent to Miramar Naval Air Station for advanced training. Here he vies with Tom Kasansky (Val Kilmer) for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Shaken up by the death of a friend, Mitchell loses the Top Gun honor to Kasansky. Worried that he may have lost his nerve, Mitchell is given a chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US vessel and a flock of predatory enemy planes.
